West Bengal, a state that has been a subject of political turmoil under the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), has witnessed a dark chapter of violence and anarchy that threatens its socio-economic fabric. The testimonies of victims like Mhilal and Manirul Sheikh have shed light on the horrific conditions under the TMC rule. On a Tuesday night, a retaliatory attack by rival TMC gangs in the village of Bagtui in Birbhum district left 10 people, including 6 women and 2 children, dead. The assailants, led by Anarul Sheikh, the local TMC block president, meticulously planned their attack. Residents took shelter in the paddy fields, leaving their women and children at home, which were subsequently invaded by the attackers. Refugees in Their Own Country

The aftermath of the attack saw not only the victims but also the remaining residents of the village flee. Many left their homes with their livestock and belongings, becoming refugees in their own country. This mass exodus highlights the widespread fear and insecurity that pervades their lives under TMC rule.

The residents have expressed their sorrow and frustration, comparing themselves to insects and begging for intervention from high-profile figures like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
